Who this is for. Anyone with off-street parking who is tired of planning their week around a public charger.

The part that decides everything

Before anyone talks about which charger you want, the supply gets assessed. A 7kW charger is a 32A continuous load, which is more than most kitchens draw at Christmas. We check the main fuse rating, the earthing arrangement and the existing load. That determines whether you can have 7kW, whether you need load balancing, and whether the DNO needs notifying.

Plenty of installers skip this and fit anyway. It works right up until it does not.

Which charger suits you

Zappi if you have solar and want to charge off the surplus. Ohme if you want the cheap overnight rates driven automatically by your tariff. Andersen if it is going on the front of a period property and has to look right. Easee if you want small and simple. We will tell you which suits how you actually drive, not which one is in the van.

Amendment 4 and EV charging.

The 2026 update to the wiring regulations brought in requirements around residual DC protection for EV installations. Anything we fit is done to the current standard, which matters when you sell the house and someone asks for the paperwork.

How it works

  1. Supply and earthing assessment

The bit that decides what you can actually have. Done before we quote.

  2. We agree the unit and the position

Including the cable route, and how it will look when it is finished.

  3. Installation, usually half a day

Longer if there is buried ducting or the board needs work first.

  4. Tested, certified, notified

Plus the DNO application where one is needed.

Questions we get asked

Can I still get a grant?

The old plug-in grant for homeowners with driveways has closed. Support remains for flats, rented property and landlords fitting them. We will tell you honestly whether you qualify rather than dangling it to win the job.

How long does it take?

Most are half a day. Long cable runs, buried ducting or a consumer unit that needs work first can make it a full day, and we tell you which yours is when we quote.

What if I have no driveway?

Then a home charger is usually the wrong answer and we will say so. We are not going to sell you something that leaves a cable across a public footpath.

Can you fit one I bought myself?

Yes, though we will check it is a unit we are happy to certify and that it suits your supply before agreeing.
